Human Nature and the Life Web
It is so easy to forget.
We have forgotten, forgotten the currents of life that flow through us every second, the immense power that is our magical nature.
So let us first examine the trap we have created.
Enchantingly beautiful or painful and ugly, our daily lives fill our perception, compelling our attention and emotions.
We are furious at a minor delay in our plans, entranced by a slight touch from a potential lover. Up and down. Up and down.
It is really amazing how deeply we believe the movie.
"Do you know how long eternity is?" asked the native.
Marlo shook her head.
"It is a long, long, long time. Why do you hurry? You have that eternity."

We can find new perspective in our lives, by considering alternatives to the strict patterns of behavior we think are expected of us. There are many more doors than those we normally use, more even than we can imagine.
Here we bring in other voices, ideas that point to some of those doors.- Disease
- Disease is part of life on earth ... those who question have long wondered why that is so. Is a marked change in the kinds of disease suffered by people a signal that the whole disease system is subject to revision and potentially elimination? Before Western lifestyles came to Central Africa there was disease, but it took radically different forms than it does today. A special Healweb page contains a medical report from an early Congo hospital, a list of the diseases treated over many years.

In the wake of that recent vicious dogma bite that led to an unfortunate fatal karma crash, people are asking all kinds of questions: Why do we let killer dogmas run free? How do we deal with rabid dogmas? Can formerly-vicious dogmas be trained to sit, stay -- and most importantly, to heal?" quote from website

We see each phase of life as an expansion, growing into successively greater realms --- until we reach old age. Then, without any understanding of death and what lies after, we assume that the changes of old age are a dissipating of what has been built rather than a preparation for the next steps in continuing growth.
Seth, said to be a being on a higher level of consciousness, was channeled by Jane Roberts beginning in the early 1960's. The material that came from that source shows great insight into human reality. Seth's position on aging is unique and deserves careful consideration:
"As the mind within the body clearly sees its earthly time coming to an end, mental and psychic accelerations take place. These are in many ways like adolescent experiences in their great bursts of creative activity, with ... the preparation for a completely new kind of personality growth and fulfillment. ...
Many instances of expansion of consciousness, and mental and psychic growth, are interpreted by you as senility. ... The experiences, however, affect the right hemisphere of the brain, and in such a way that abilities are released in somewhat the same manner as an adolescent's.
The individual, when it is time then, begins to see beyond temporal life, to open up dimensions of awareness that in your terms he or she could not afford while involved in the intense physical focus of normal adult life. ... This is one of the most creative, valuable aspects of your lives. ...
There are no teachers to guide them. Old age is a highly creative part of living. ... The personality is in just as creative a state (as in childhood).
Even the chemical and hormonal changes that occur are those that are conductive to spiritual and psychic growth at that time. ... The peculiar chemical changes that occur are often precisely those that lead to greater conceptions and experience, but these are free from what you think of as practical application. There is a trigger set off then, an impetus in which the personality tries to free itself from time-space orientation, released from the usual necessity to participate in "adult" terms. ...
In their natural progression, and left alone, the old understand their own "visions" quite well. Body and mind operate beautifully together." from: "The Nature of Personal Reality - a Seth Book" by Jane Roberts, pages 294 - 297. Underlined as the original.
Much of the lack of understanding of aging is because our society has its focus almost exclusively on material values. Thus we train our children to be "productive" rather than "idle" dreamers.
The old are no longer productive. Their thoughts and visions have no "practical application" - and yet those thoughts and visions may have great practical application in the environment they will inhabit after death, an environment where a big house, stock options, and all the other enticements of this world, themselves, have no practical application whatsoever.
As Seth often says, we are blinded by our beliefs, seeing only those things we already believe to be possible.
Life is a natural process.
All of it.
